Fumey Chatelain Les Capucins Chardonnay 2022

This comes from vines planted in 1953 on the gravelly soils of the Capucins lieu-dit near the village of Arbois in the Jura. The fruit was direct-pressed prior to fermentation and later aged for 18 months in barrel.
This is precise, resolved, balanced and ultra-classical, with an impressive feeling of delicacy and finesse despite the slightly higher alcohol. There’s fruit in the realm citrus as well as some subtle, more tropical notes, with many layers of straw, almond meal and lactic acidity from the elevage adding both aromatic complexity and length to the finish.
This is brilliant white wine from two of the region’s young stars.
