Description:

We recently received our first shipment from Anjou vigneron Jérôme Lambert in a number of years and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Jérôme is without question one of very favourite winemakers, not just in the Loire but in all of France.

Jérôme farms a number of his own parcels in and around Rablay-sur-Loire, primarily planted to chenin blanc, grolleau and gamay. In a fashion which is typical of the area, the chenin is planted over schist and is deep and mineral, while the reds grow on sandier soil and are wonderfully lifted and aromatic as a result. The winemaking is simple however the fruit selection is beyond rigorous. No oak is used in the winery and the wines have incredible purity and primary detail.

2022 Zudefruit comes from grolleau and is as good a rendition of this wine as we’ve ever tasted. It’s silken and polished in structure, with pure and earthen dark red fruit and a wonderful feeling of freshness. This is a serious offering from Jérôme and will be very well suited to the cold nights ahead.

Description:

This is very lightly macerated fiano which was grown at a site in Gundagai. It was pressed to old barrels for fermentation and elevage. Gently savoury and saline with pineapple and lime fruit and lovely waxy texture.

Aristotelis and Anthoula both hail from villages in rural Greece but relocated to the beachside suburbs of Sydney during the 80s. After moving to Australia they continued to make wine at home in the way they had learned growing up in Greece – small batches of juice fermented in old barrels with no additives – using grapes sourced from Sydney markets, supplied by Greek expat growers in the Riverland.

Today, the couple have scaled up their production to a full winery and work with a number of vineyards on the far south coast of New South Wales, across Murrumbateman, Hilltops, Goulburn, Gundagai, Griffith, and the Southern Highlands, all of which are farmed regeneratively. They are also in the process of establishing their own estate winery. Ari and Anthoula prefer to pick fruit a little earlier to capture energy and acidity, and use a mixture of stainless steel, old barrels and clay amphorae in the winery.

Format: 3L Bag in Box

Description:

3 litres of sheer Anjou elegance courtesy of the wonderful Sylvain Martinez.

This is direct-press chenin blanc and grolleau gris and comes from a calcareous parcel next to Sylvain’s winery. Light-to-medium bodied albeit concentrated and round in texture, with delicate golden apple and citrus fruit, balanced acidity and aromatic whispers of calcareous earth, this is a classical, youthful and joyous style which is well suited to drinking on its own at a picnic or alongside a variety of lighter dishes.

The bag-in-box mechanism keeps the wine fresh for weeks on end, making it a very handy thing to have in the fridge at home. Naturally, it’s also a great option for larger groups, all manner of parties, and music festivals and other events which don’t allow glass bottles. We absolutely love this format and are very excited to see it being utilised by more and more of our favourite producers.

Merci Sylvain!
