Hybrids are an interesting topic and can be confusing for customers and professionals alike. Simply, hybrids come into existence by grafting different species of grapes onto each other in hopes of creating more disease resistant varietals. These varietals also carry new and unique flavor profiles and wine-making potentials.

The 2021 Goupil is an excellent example of this. It carries deep inky color and weight with a balanced structure and protectively-handled dark plum and currant fruit notes. All in all a very palatable and delicious wine – a perfect expression of the potential hybrid varietals show.
