Description:
Andrew Cummins crafts wonderful expressions of Barossa varieties, channeling his love of the region’s history into delicious, varietal and very well-made bottlings made with fruit from a handful of excellent organic vineyards.
The muscat blanc and riesling come from the Bethany sub-region planted in hard red-brown texture contrast soils with alkaline subsoil. The muscat was destemmed and on skins for 12 weeks before pressing, then aged in barrel under flor, while the riesling was direct-pressed and fermented in stainless before being put to oak towards the end of fermentation.
The two varieties come together very nicely here, with the riesling bringing a touch of drive to the more perfumed and fruity muscat. Medium-bodied but generous in flavour, with cumquat peel, ginger, brine and flowers.
A fabulous local option for fans of JM Dreyer, Domaine in Black and other Alsatian orange wine producers.
