Description:

We’ve recently had the extraordinary pleasure of importing a second shipment of wines from rising star Andi Weigand, from his base in Iphofen, Germany to our warehouse here in Melbourne. They’ve travelled superbly well, and we’re delighted to be able to enjoy and share them now.

Andi lives and works in the Franken region of central Germany. He farms a number of well-established sites around the town of Iphofen which are home to local white varietals such as silvaner, müller-thurgau and riesling, as well as chardonnay and pinot noir – all of which are planted over the calcareous keuper soils which, according to Andi, impart a very distinct herbal flavour to the wines and allow for the production of fresh and stable wines with complex flavours even when picked at slightly earlier stages of ripeness.

This is bacchus and müller-thurgau which was destemmed and macerated in amphora for 9 months. Dense and fruity, it in fact drinks more like a lightly macerated white wine, with a pulpy but chiselled palate of delicious citrus and tropical fruit, layers of gently leesy flavours, and a concentrated and direct core of acidity.
