Serious orange wine from the inimitable Conservatoire des Vignes Anciennes in Marchampt.
This comes from ultra-low-yielding chardonnay giboudot and villard blanc, macerated throughout fermentation, grown at Cyril and Karine Alonso’s beautiful ampelographic conservatory of over 140 different grape varieties as well as wild-growing vines, nestled in the woodlands west of Beaujolais. The fruit quality on this property is gloriously high and the winemaking exceptionally precise.
A powerful wine with spiced persimmon fruit, relaxed acidity and pronounced phenolics, this does extraordinarily well at the dinner table, particularly as an accompaniment to good quality salami with plenty of fat.
