Description:
Demeter-certified sparkling wine from Hollenberg, Austria. Christoph started making wine at the family winery in 2009, and shortly thereafter started the conversion of the vineyards to biodynamics.
The soils here in Kremstal – essentially solidified river sediment which is rich in calcareous matter – are very well-suited to the production of fresh and direct sparkling wines, which Christoph makes by blending together different base wines from different sites, varieties and vintages.
Kalkspitz is a pet-nat style white sparkling blend comprising base wine from 2018, 2019 and 2020 — a combination of white fruit (mostly gruner veltliner) and direct-press red fruit.
