Clo is the project of Chris Loth, longtime member of the team at Annandale Cellars in Sydney and now a very talented winemaker, with the establishment of his Clo project in 2013 coupled with stints in France with such wonderful producers as Jean Foillard and François Rousset-Martin.
A savoury, textural and tertiary wine inspired by the wines of Josko Gravner, this is 100% pinot gris grown by the Johansen family in Tumbarumba, 700 metres above sea level, which was macerated for six months before being basket-pressed to old barrels to finish its elevage.
In the words of the winemaker:
Flavours of quince, chamomile and earl grey tea, wild flowers, feijoa and spice all in harmony with nuances developing as the wine opens. The palate is medium-full in weight, finely tannic and remains fresh through its extraordinary length. A wine to savour and serve with food (salumi, pasta, pork).
Cheers Chris!
