The vineyard has belonged to his family for generations and has been under his management since 2014, with a large part leased to Mai and Kenji Hodgson and the remaining 0.7ha being farmed by Dominique himself. His parcel is south-facing and planted on schist. Verdant and biodiverse with extraordinarily low yields, the parcel is tended to by Dominique less like a commercial vineyard and more like a home garden.
The wines are pressed to barrel and see lengthy elevage there before bottling. Deep, dry, profoundly concentrated, gently rich and magnificently well-made, this is one of the Loire’s scarcest and most rewarding bottles of chenin.
