A rare rendition of a contemporary Australian classic.
The Eastern Peake vineyard was established by the Latta family in 1983, with plantings of 8 acres of pinot noir followed by 4 acres of chardonnay in 1991. A winery was eventually established on the property, situated in Coghill’s Creek in the highlands north of Ballarat, just in time for the 1995 vintage.
Today, Owen Latta’s wines are veritable staples found year-round in many of the country’s best restaurants.
This wine comes from the 2014 vintage, during which time Owen was experimenting with unsulphured cuvees. Concentrated and varietal, with a lightly earthen notion of clay and iron soils, and now showing some delicious light tertiary character from the time in bottle, this is a brilliant and very special collector’s item which we are very, very excited to have in the shop.
