Description
A much-anticipated restock, from the concentrated and high quality 2024 harvest in Te Matau-a-Māui, Hawke’s Bay.
Amy and Olly Hopkinson-Styles are two of our biggest heroes in the world of wine – dear old friends, brilliant winemakers and tirelessly passionate communicators within the global community of organic winemaking.
Alcyone is 100% sangiovese from the Osawa vineyard, situated in the Mangatahi subregion of Hawke’s Bay. It was picked a little earlier, then partially destemmed before macerating in tank for 10 days. As is Amy and Olly’s custom, everything was done in tank in an effort to retain purity, freshness and tension.
This is a wonderfully delicate, pure and precise expression of the variety – light-bodied and refreshing, with amazing clarity of fruit and gentle varietal herbaceousness. In 2024, the fruit is a touch darker and more fleshier than in the previous rendition of the wine, with a slightly more pronounced tannic presence – the silver lining of reduced yields following the cyclone of 2023.
Cheers Amy and Olly!
