Holiday Drinks Pack #2
We get very giddy about the festive season and we’re now particularly excited to be offering a couple of special holiday drinks packs. These come in packs of 3 and 6 and feature a selection of bottles from some of our favourite growers which we think are well-suited to the warmer months – either as party time bottles to splash around or as thoughtful accompaniments to long holiday lunches.
The price of this 6-bottle pack is $320.00 — down from a regular retail value of $366.00 — and includes:
Francois Blanchard Biere 2021
A generous but very refreshing spontaneous fermented ale, this is full of delicious estery fruit, supporting lactic acidity, pithy bitterness and gently sweet malt character. It’s an excellent proposition for the park, ideally served alongside some washed rind cheese. While Francois Blanchard is best known for his breathtaking wines, every year we eagerly await the release of his beer, which he makes in small quantities with ingredients purchased from Germany.
Andi Weigand White 2023
A direct-press blend of bacchus, silvaner, muller thurgau and scheurebe, from young Franken winemaker Andi Weigand. This is aromatic, energetic, fresh and direct, with citrus and a whisper of more tropical fruit – typical of the varieties – and with a lovely mixture of pulpy primary fruit and more crystalline nuance from the time in barrel.
Halcyon Days Vermillion 2023
A dark rosé or ultra-light red, made from some of the only sangiovese vines in Aotearoa by Amy and Olly Hopkinson-Styles. Picked a bit earlier and vinified in stainless steel, this is light, fresh and incredibly pure in its expression of tart red varietal fruit. One of the most sought-after wines in the shop, and for good reason!
Domaine de la Petite Soeur Plasma 2025
From Anjou grower Adrien de Mello, this is a blend of cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc, the final wine a rosé that leans a touch darker in colour. The style of fruit here is pretty, pink and gently aromatic albeit restrained, with a lovely peppery character reminiscent of pineau d’aunis, grolleau and other light red wines grown in the area.
CDVA T’as d’Beaux Yeux Tu Sais! 2022
A very unique bottling, from wild vines (Vitis Sylvestris) that sprang from seed spontaneously and began growing up the trunks of trees by the river at Karine and Cyril Alonso’s little corner of paradise in western Beaujolais. The structure and style of fruit in the wine is something unlike anything we’ve ever tasted, with aroma soaring out of the glass and the structure being taut and lightly sappy. The ultra-low ABV is also handy in warmer weather!
Ostal Levant Regain 2020
From a parcel planted in 1979 in Duravel, just east of Louis and Charlotte’s winery on the Lot River near Cahors. This site has some of the limestone typical of the area but also a slightly higher clay content. 2020 is an excellent, cool and low-yielding year, with tremendous concentration and freshness. This is medium-bodied, with dark and fleshy primary fruit and tannin in the mid-palate and clayey minerality. With its inky fruit, resolved tannic structure and bright, direct acidity, this does particularly well at a cooler temperature, or even properly chilled on a warmer day.
Pack #1 includes 3 bottles and can be purchased here.
