Description:

Jean Marc’s 6ha of vines are located in Rosheim at the northern end of Alsace near Strasbourg, far from the famous Grand Cru sites to the south but his wines are no less impressive.

He assumed control of the family winery in 2004 and was seeking a path to the purest expression of his family’s vineyard sites until a life-changing event in 2013 gave him the clarity and courage to stop adding sulfites to any of his wines. By 2014 he was growing all of his fruit using certified biodynamic techniques.

The fruit selected for the Origin cuvées is macerated for 10-20 days before being fermented in large old barrels. The wine remained in those barrels for ageing without being topped up for almost a year before being bottled.

In the glass, this is richly-textured yet saline and dry, with Muscat d’ Alsace’s distinctively “grapey” character along with delicately floral and deliciously ripe tropical fruit aromas and flavours.
