Delicious pet-nat from Mittelbergheim, Alsace.
Stretched along the Vosges mountain range near the country’s northeastern border with Germany, this region has the highest concentration of organic vineyards in France and is a great place to go looking for delicious, energetic and aromatic white wines.
Helmed by André Kleinknecht, this domaine’s holdings comprise 9 hectares split across a number of parcels. The domaine has been farming organically since 1998, Biodynamic since 2012 and gained Demeter certification in 2014.
Dry but fruity and aromatic, with delicious grapefruit and more tropical nuance combined with delicate and savoury yeasty elements, this is an approachable style of sparkling which would do very nicely as an aperitif in the winter sunshine.
