Description:
From the hallowed 2019 Mosel vintage and two of the region’s stars.
Having practised biodynamics since 1978, Rita and Rudolf Trossen are two of the most significant figures in organic winegrowing in Germany and today continue to delight the world with their exquisite and deeply site-expressive rieslings.
Their village of Kinheim-Kindel is located in the midst of the ancient cultural landscape of the Middle-Mosel, which was recognised as early as Celtic and Roman times as some of the best winegrowing terroir in Europe due to its cool micro-climates and sheer slopes of weathered blue and grey slate which give deep, stony and saline wines (as evinced by the likes of talented newcomer Jakob Tennstedt, friend of Public Wine Shop) as well as the power and fruitiness that riesling delivers so well.
This is a 500ml bottling of spectacularly delicious late-harvest riesling with a degree of residual sugar and raisin-y dried fruit aromatics balanced by the line of laser-like acidity which is so typical of wine from this part of the world. A monumental bottling which could only come from the Mosel, and currently one of the most compelling wines in the building.
