Spectacular gruner veltliner, from a contemporary superstar of Austrian wine.
Based in Burgenland, Christian’s gruner comes from two parcels, both with vines of roughly 40 years of age, one planted in limestone and the other schist. Both are direct-pressed and fermented separately in old oak before being assembled before bottling.
Deep, mineral and expansive on the palate, with concentrated and animated fruit, this combines direct, limestone-derived acidity with more stony nuance from the schist, and is brimming with various shades of white fruit and lightly vegetal, radish-y varietal character.
