Schnabel Zweigelt Kreuzegg 2015
Styria, Austria
Zweigelt
12.5% ABV.
From Karl and Eva Schnabel comes this magnificent (and now 10-year-old) zweigelt, grown on the Kreuzegg vineyard of their beautiful property in southern Styria.
As is customary for the domaine, the fruit here was destemmed and macerated for about two weeks before being pressed off to old barrels for elevage.
Tasting today, it’s open and perfumed, medium-bodied and relatively mineral, with red fruit complemented by a subtle notion of wood and a hint of earthen tertiary nuance.
A brilliant and mature wine which will be absolutely singing throughout the winter.
