Description:

We’ve recently had the extraordinary pleasure of importing a second shipment of wines from rising star Andi Weigand, from his base in Iphofen, Germany to our warehouse here in Melbourne. They’ve travelled superbly well, and we’re delighted to be able to enjoy and share them now.

Andi lives and works in the Franken region of central Germany. He farms a number of well-established sites around the town of Iphofen which are home to local white varietals such as silvaner, müller-thurgau and riesling, as well as chardonnay and pinot noir – all of which are planted over the calcareous keuper soils which, according to Andi, impart a very distinct herbal flavour to the wines and allow for the production of fresh and stable wines with complex flavours even when picked at slightly earlier stages of ripeness.

This pack includes three of Andi’s flagship whites: the 2024 Silvaner, from deep-rooted 40-year-old vines and a variety autochthonous to the region, which expresses the crisp, spicy and herbal character of the Keuper soils especially well; the 2024 White, which is a blend of white varieties with a slightly more aromatic expression of fruit; and the magnificent 2023 Chardonnay, which saw an extra year of elevage in barrel prior to bottling.

Each of these cuvees is lean, chiselled and direct — presenting a fabulous window into both the soils and climate of the region and Andi’s particular style of winemaking — while each expressing their own varietal nuance as well.

All informed by sensitive soil management and technically brilliant vine husbandry and vinifications, these are, simply, some of our favourite wines in the world to drink and enjoy. Terroir, vine age and canopy management here all provide fruit of breathtaking quality and intensity and the final wines are open, joyous and simultaneously deeply serious and classical.

The price of the pack is $210, which includes a 10% discount from the retail value of the wines.
