Piquenique Pinotosh 2021

A$95.00

San Juan Islands, United States Apple juice, grape skins ABV: 7.5

Another intriguing cuvée this time with the addition of grapes! Nic and Tess have taken over stewardship of the oldest plot of vines (and some of the only) in the San Juans. Planted to Madeleine Angevine and Siegerrebe in the 80’s both varieties are pressed and skins left to macerate with apple juice. This creates a fascinating dark purple colour with plenty of texture and complex fruit. Mellow acidity and nice weighted mouth make this a serious dinner wine.

Piquenique is an extraordinary project from two of America’s best wine minds: Tess Bryant of Tess Bryant Selections and Niccolo Coturri of the famed California family of vignerons. They live together now on San Juan Island in the isolated archipelago of the same name, 3 hours outside of Seattle, Washington. A remarkably beautiful part of the world not known for its wine making. Nick and Tess source a stunning variety of fruits both wild and cultivated, including grapes, quince, medlar, blackberries, and apples from around the archipelago to create truly unique fermented beverages.
